Financial Safety
Bower Retirement Services specialises in providing independent financial advice specifically on Equity Release schemes.
As part of our service you will enjoy the benefits of full consumer protection courtesy of the Financial Services Authority and the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, and with our Professional Indemnity Insurance.
Because we only recommend Safe Homes Income Plans (SHIP) endorsed equity release products, or those which come with the same set of guarantees, you are guaranteed a set of benefits that secure your financial safety. These benefits cover both financial and legal aspects and we have provided further information on both of these in this section.
Your Legal Advice
When you decide to go ahead with an Equity Release plan, you will need to instruct a solicitor to carry out the legal work involved.
Bower Retirement Services only recommends Equity Release plans endorsed by Safe Home Income Plans (SHIP) and it is therefore a requirement, for your benefit, that the legal work involved in setting up your plan is performed by a solicitor that is independent of Bower Retirement Services and the Equity Release plan provider.
SHIP endorsed equity release plans can only complete with a signed SHIP certificate from your solicitor. This is an important document that ensures you are aware of the terms of the plan and the implications of it on your estate.
So that your solicitor is in the best position to provide you with an independent legal opinion before signing your SHIP certificate, we will make them aware of the details of the benefits of your chosen plan before completion by providing a copy of your written report.
Choosing a Solicitor
It is important to choose a specialist Equity Release Solicitor to handle the legal aspects of setting up your Equity Release plan, and the more experience and knowledge they have in this specialist area of law the better because it could lead to substantial savings where both time and money are concerned.
The decision on which solicitor to choose to handle the legal aspects of your Equity Release transaction is completely yours and for this reason we do not recommend any particular firm. However, if you would like details of solicitors in your area that deal with equity release, please contact us.
